The NHS in Barnsley and Public Health England (PHE) are extremely well prepared for outbreaks of new infectious diseases. The NHS has put in place measures to ensure the safety of all patients and NHS staff while also ensuring services are available to the public as normal.
It is important we prevent the spread of this virus, in particular to people with underlying health problems
If you have a temperature ( above 37.8) and /or a cough( this includes children) loss of taste or smell, please do not come to surgery but go home and self isolate for 7 days from the onset of symptoms following the current advice. If you have serious symptoms and cannot manage at home you should use NHS 111 online (people should only call NHS111 if they cannot get online).
After 7 days of self-isolation, people who feel better and no longer have a high temperature can return to their normal routine. If they have not had any signs of improvement after 7 days and have not already sought medical advice, they should use NHS111 online (people should only call NHS111 if they cannot get online) before they leave their home or let visitors in.
Cough may persist for several weeks in some people, despite the coronavirus infection having cleared. A persistent cough alone does not mean someone must continue to stay at home for more than 7 days.
Please do not come to the surgery if you are awaiting results from a Corona Virus Test
Recent travel is now irrelevant, please play your part and help us prevent further spread of this virus
Do not go to a GP surgery, community pharmacy or hospital. Use NHS 111 online (only call NHS111 if you cannot get online) stay indoors and avoid close contact with other people.
Elf Day - Alzheimer's Society - December 2019
In December 2019 the team at Ashville Medical Practice took part in Elf Day to support the Alzheimer's Society and raised £252. We have received a notification back from the Alzheimer's society to thank us for taking part. Elf day has now raised over £440,000 for people affected by dementia. This could fund the set up of 15 side by side sites in 15 communities across the UK, where trained volunteers help people living with dementia and their families tackle isolation and loneliness.
Life After Loss Café
Feeling of loss and grief can be experienced after we loose someone or something we care about like death of a loved one, loss of a relationship, loss of a pet, loss of a job, loss of good health or a change to your way of life. Living with any kind of loss can be difficult and it helps to talk. Please feel free to call in to the next café, no appointment needed.
Due to COVID-19 all life after loss cafes have been suspended until further notice
