Ashville Medical Practice Appointment System Explained

In order to increase the number of available GP appointments, thus improving the timescales in which patients are seen, the majority of appointments are booked on the day.

Patients are asked to call the appointments line at 08:00 or 14:00 if they wish to have an appointment with the GP. They will then be placed on a telephone list where the doctor will call the patient back during the course of the morning or afternoon and perform triage. The doctor will then decide on the next appropriate action as not all patients will need to be treated in surgery.

When requesting an appointment, our receptionist will ask you the nature of your condition. This is to help them decide on the most appropriate type of appointment. Not all conditions need to be treated by a GP, therefor they may offer you an alternative service that is more fitting to your complaint.

Any requests for home visits or GP appointments in advance will also be placed on a list where a doctor will telephone the patient back and perform triage.

Please note: You will not be given a specific time for telephone advice.

You may request to speak with a particular doctor; We will accommodate this the best we can, however it may not always be possible to fulfil these requests due to the availability of the doctor.

The above does not apply to booking appointments with the Practice Nurses or Healthcare Assistants. Appointments with the Practice Nurses/Healthcare Assistants can be booked up to 1 month in advance.

Our dedicated team are here to treat those minor ailments that occur as well as providing specialist management of long-term conditions and clinics covering a wide range of healthcare issues.
