Doctors

  • DR DEBRA AINSWORTH

    BSc(hons), MBChB with honours (Sheffield 2002), MRCS (2006), DFSRH (2008), nMRCGP (2009)

    Dr Ainsworths interests include minor surgery, joint injections, women’s health and family planning. She is qualified to fit and remove contraceptive implants and coils. She also has an interest in paediatrics and palliative care.

    MB, BChir, MA, MRCGP, MRCS, DRCOG

    Dr Mills enjoys the variety of general practice and he has particular interests in men’s health, adolescent health, dementia care, vertigo and paediatrics. He has extra qualifications in surgery, joint injections and substance misuse.

  • DR JAMES PRINGLE

    Dr Pringle works part time and is a GP Partner. He joined the practice in August 2014 as a salaried GP and he became a GP Partner in August 2015.

    Dr Cooke works full time and joined the practice in August 2015 as a GP Partner.

    Dr Gibbins interests include Cardiovascular and Men's Health, Elderly Care Medicine and Palliative Care.

    Dr Leary joined the practice in September 2018 as a salaried GP and became a GP Partner in October 2018

    Dr Messengers interests include dermatology, joint injections, musculoskeletal problems and child health.

Nurse Practitioner

  • HEATHER GILLOTT

    RGN, Pg/Dip First Contact Care, Independent Nurse Prescriber (2008)

    Heather is from Barnsley and was one of the last groups to train at Barnsley School of Nursing before training moved to Sheffield. She qualified as a Registered Nurse in 1991. Having spent 14 years working in the Emergency Department she left to join a local GP practice and become a Nurse Practitioner in 2005. She gained her postgraduate diploma in First Contact Care which allows her to triage, assess, diagnose, and treat a wide range of GP presentations. She then moved to work at Ashville in 2010 where she continues to see patients and is an Associate Partner and manager of the nursing team.

Nurses

Practice nurses are qualified and registered nurses. They can help with health issues such as family planning, healthy living advice, blood pressure checks and dressings. The practice nurses run clinics for long-term health conditions such as asthma or diabetes, minor ailment clinics and carry out cervical smears.

Healthcare Assistants

Healthcare assistants support practice nurses with their daily work and carry out tasks such as phlebotomy (drawing blood), blood pressure measurement and new patient checks. They may act as a chaperone when a patient or doctor requests one.

    Business Manager

    Mel has held a number of Managerial positions including Senior Operations Manager of an Occupational Health Company and Call Centre Manager for an Out of Hours GP Service. Mel joined Ashville Medical Practice in November 2011 as Practice Manager and became Business Manager in July 2020. Mel’s role is to manage the overall running of the practice to enable us to meet agreed aims and objectives within an efficient, safe, and effective working environment, ensuring the team delivers the best possible care to our patients, identifying opportunities and improvements along the way. Mel also has responsibility for ensuring the practice is CQC compliant.

Admin Staff

The team comprises Ruth, Karen, Karen, Lesley, Kathryn, Lynn, Amy, Lucy, Andrea, Lydia, Leeann, Amy, Sarah, Sonia, Abbey and Emily.

Care Coordinators

Our care coordinators are Clare, Beth, Holly, Melanie and Julie. They work closely with our care homes to ensure patients have the care and treatment they need.

Health and Wellbeing Coach

Louise is our Health and Wellbeing Coach. Health and wellbeing coaches work with you to help you manage your own health.

Community Midwives

Care for our pregnant ladies. They are at the practice on Wednesdays.

Community Nurses

We have a team of district nurses attached to our Practice. District nurses are qualified registered nurses who hold an additional qualification in Community Specialist Practice. They have a team of community staff nurses and auxiliary nurses who work alongside them to provide highly skilled nursing care for our patients in their own home or at clinic. The district nurses offer a wide range of services for the housebound and those recently discharged from Hospital. They also hold their own clinics within Oaks Park Primary Care Centre.
